If you purchased a home in Texas before the new year, you have until April 30, 2018 to utilize the advantages of your purchase and file for a residential homestead exemption — a legal exemption that removes part of the home’s value from taxation. With this exemption, homeowners can potentially save thousands on property taxes, depending on the value of the home.

Going on an Egg Hunt
Taking the kiddos on an Easter egg hunt is always a joy. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden features members-only egg hunts. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of tulips and spring blooms, participants are divided into age-appropriate groups, so everyone has a fair shake at egg-gathering. (We hear tickets are going fast, so reserve your spots today.)
You know the Easter season is officially upon us when you see Dallas pooches flaunting their Sunday best! The annual Easter in Lee Park and Pooch Parade is a must-attend event. In addition to the pup parade, participants enjoy music, food and vendors.
Some of your favorite neighborhoods sponsor egg hunts — and you need only show up with enthusiasm and an egg-collecting basket. One of our favorites is the University Park Eggstravaganza, which takes place this weekend in Goar Park. Additional activities at this annual event include photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, bounce houses, snacks and music.
