Live to Give: SoupMobile – Room at the Inn

When most families are gathered in their comfortable homes, ready to celebrate the holiday season with their loved ones, Lisa Ernst and 2,500 SoupMobile volunteers spend Christmas Eve with the homeless. Partnered with the Omni Hotel, the SoupMobile welcomes 500 homeless men, women and children for a night of holiday cheer and heartfelt ministry in Dallas’ iconic luxury hotel. Lisa and her counterparts ensure that each person has a warm bed, several warm meals and plenty of fun. The guests are honored with a banquet, a movie night and a Christmas Eve church service.

“They’re treated like royalty,” Lisa says. “When they wake up Christmas morning, they’re not under a bridge; they’re in a warm bed in a safe place.”

The SoupMobile works year-round delivering meals to the homeless in Dallas, but the Christmas Eve celebration is a truly selfless expression of the holiday spirit.

This holiday season, we are pleased to shine the light on many of the servant leaders making our community better and stronger. And we do this not just also to thank them, but to inspire others to roll up their sleeves and help in some way. To learn more about #LiveToGiveThisHoliday, click here.
